Blurring the Lines between Good and Evil
November 15, 2017 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm
Event Navigation
Presented by Robert Antonacci, M.A., Ph. D. candidate
Game of Thrones has captured the imagination of enormous numbers of people in a profound way. In this talk we will examine some of the archetypal underpinnings of the show’s characters that we love to hate and hate to love within a contemporary context. Some of the topics to be covered include the projections of good and evil onto the “heroes” and “villains,” shadow, the disowned feminine, and trauma as a means of understanding the “other.”
Course Objectives:
- Describe Jung’s concept of shadow, and its necessity in bringing balance between the conscious ego and psyche.
- Give an example of the disowned feminine in Game of Thrones as a means to understanding oppression and marginalization.
Robert Antonacci, M.A., Ph.D. candidate, is currently in his second year of pre-doctoral internship at the C.G. Jung Institute of Los Angeles.
