The Axiom of Maria Prophetissa states: One becomes Two, Two becomes Three, and out of the Third comes the One as the Fourth.
This axiom holds one of life’s great mysteries—the secret of secrets—and proves to be a master metaphor for the process of individuation itself and spiritual regeneration. In this presentation we will look at the first four numbers as they have been elaborated psychologically. We will look at this process developmentally in relation to body, soul and spirit, how various psychologies have emerged out of them, and how they lead to the three stages of coniunctio as described by Jung in Mysterium Coniunctionis.

August J. Cwik, Psy.D., is a clinical psychologist, hypnotherapist, and Jungian analyst in private practice in the Chicago area. He is a member of the Chicago Society of Jungian Analysts. He is also an assistant editor of the Journal of Analytical Psychology. He was co-director of training of the analyst training program and co-director of the clinical training program in analytical psychotherapy at the C.G. Jung Institute of Chicago. He has published articles on the structure of analysis, alchemy, supervision, dreams, active imagination, and numerous reviews.
