About the Author:Carl Alfred Meier was born in 1905 in Schaffhausen, Switzerland. He recieved his medical training at the University of Zurich and studied as a graduate at the University of Vienna Medical School. He received degree in psychiatry from Burgholzli Psychiatric Clinic, Zurich. Through his relationship with C.G. Jung, he became actively involved in many areas related to analytical psychology. Meier served as a general secretary of International Society for Medical Psychotherapy from 1933 to 1943 during Jung's tenure as president, and is founder of the C.G. Jung Institute in Zurich. Upon his retirement in 1949, Dr. Meier succeeded him as professor at the Swiss Federal Institute.
