Richard Ryan, PhD, LCSW

I discovered Jung as a college student 45 years ago. After a near death experience and several years of dream work and analysis, I embarked on the journey to become a psychotherapist and eventually a Jungian analyst in 1994, a long and winding road indeed! I was certified in January 2014 and now reside in Santa Fe, New Mexico, where I teach and have my private practice. I am a member of the New Mexico Society of Jungian Analysts, the Interregional Society of Jungian Analysts, as well as the C.G. Jung Institute of Los Angeles, where I interned and received analytic training.

In my practice I strive to create a safe space for the intimate work of self-acceptance and individuation. I attune to people without judgment so that painful feelings and stubborn obstacles can turn into opportunities for increased self-awareness and growth. Among my areas of expertise are working with dreams, using active imagination techniques, music therapy, and mindfulness tools which integrate cognitive behavioral techniques.

I integrate these complementary methodologies and techniques to offer a highly personalized approach tailored to each client. I offer therapy in person or via Skype, FaceTime, or telephone.

I have presented at conferences and to general audiences speaking on the topics of parenting, the application of Jung’s ideas to thetreatment of children and adolescents, the use of music in therapy, sexuality, sexual abuse, and mindfulness meditation.
