Pamela Freundl Kirst, PhD

Pamela Freundl Kirst, Ph.D. is a Certified Jungian Analyst who received her analytic training at the C.G. Jung Institute of Los Angeles, and a licensed Clinical Psychologist, with a PhD in Clinical Psychology from UCLA, Department of Psychology. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Iowa, with a major in Psychology and a minor in Religion. She serves on the Institute Board of Directors as Secretary, and has taught in the Analytic Training Program.

Her clinical interests include creativity, dreaming, and the intersection between them; relationships of all sorts–intimate, family, friendships, work, self, and relationship to psyche; loss and grief; and issues connected to mothers, mothering, and parenting.

Pamela is a writer whose articles and essays have appeared in Psychological Perspectives, The Los Angeles Psychologist, The Los Angeles Times Sunday Magazine, GreenPrints, The Christian Science Monitor, and other publications.

For many years she served on the Editorial Board of The Los Angeles Psychologist, and acted as guest editor for two issues, one on Dreams and a second on Creativity.

She has lectured nationally on “The Grip of the Negative Mother Complex” and “The Falling Child,” and presented “Looking Back: Individuation and Aging” and “Turning Points” in Los Angeles.

She was the Featured Artist for an issue of Psychological Perspectives, her photographs appearing on the cover and within the issue.

Pamela conducts workshops on Dreaming and Creativity: “Psyche, Soul, and the Creative Process,” for the general public, and Working with Dreams in Psychotherapy, “Creating and Nurturing a Relationship with Psyche: Dream Work in Therapy and Analysis,” for clinicians.
