Bianca Daalder-van Iersel, MA, MFT
Bianca Daalder-van Iersel, MA, MFT, has been a practicing psychotherapist in Los Angeles since 1998 and was certified as a Jungian Analyst in 2007. She immigrated to the United States in the early 70s, continuing her lifelong pursuit of the visual arts that began early in life in her native Amsterdam, where she studied at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy for Fine Arts and Design. Still working on these endeavors in Los Angeles, and participating in various local exhibitions, she also did production work in the film industry.
After the birth of her daughter she was drawn to Jungian analysis, which eventually led her to go back to school to obtain a Master’s degree in counseling psychology at Pacifica Graduate Institute. After having been granted an MFT license she started a private practice, while simultaneously studying to become a Jungian analyst.
Her clinical interests often embrace depth analysis, dream analysis and art in its various forms—which often dovetail beautifully. As an immigrant, multicultural and intergenerational issues are also of deep interest. For more details please see her profile on Psychology Today.
Bianca’s visual work was featured in Psychological Perspectives, volume 51:1. Most recently she also co-produced and directed two video interviews with senior Jungian analysts Katherine Sanford and Glenn Foy, and an article entitled “Stepping into a Painting,” dedicated to the experience of “active imagination” and it’s intermingling with artistic expressions, was published in Psychological Perspectives, volume 60: 68—83, 2017 (see PDF below).
