Sharon Heath is a faculty member of the C.G. Jung Institute of Los Angeles and a certified Jungian Analyst in private practice. She sees the primary functions of Jungian analysis as awakening us to the richness of our inner worlds and connecting us with the natural vitality of who we were born to be.
She works with individuals seeking wholeness and healing by collaboratively discerning through dreams, active imagination, creative work, and relational dialogue the meaning embedded within the more challenging aspects of their lives. She is particularly attuned to working with experiences of anxiety and depression; low self-esteem and chronic shame; past trauma manifesting in the body and in negative relationship patterns; grief and loss; eating disorders and body dysmorphia; creative blocks; and losses of instinct, initiative, and connection. She also works with couples seeking healing and deepened intimacy by assisting in improved styles of communication, attending to attachment issues and unconscious projections, replacing shaming and blaming with mutual understanding, and promoting mature interdependence by creating space for the sacred give and take of love.
As part of her depth calling, she gives talks and writes fiction and non-fiction exploring the interplay of science and spirit, politics and pop culture, contemplation, and community. She has published in Psychological Perspectives and Jung Journal: Culture & Psyche, and she has blogged for TerraSpheres and the Huffington Post. She is a contributor to Marked by Fire: Stories of the Jungian Way, edited by Naomi Lowinsky and Patricia Damery (Fisher King, 2012); Depth Psychology and the Digital Age, edited by Bonnie Bright (Depth Insights, 2016); and Cultural Complexes and the Soul of America: Myth, Psyche, and Politics, edited by Thomas Singer (Routledge, 2020). She has authored the novel Chasing Eve (Thomas-Jacob Publishing, 2020) and a fiction trilogy that includes The History of My Body, Tizita, and Return of the Butterfly (Thomas-Jacob Publishing, 2016, 2017, and 2018). She blogs on current affairs at www.sharonheath.com.
