Toni Wolff was a client, then lover, and intellectual collaborator with C.G. Jung in the creation of analytical psychology. Wolff developed a theoretical model for the structure of the female psyche based on the concept of the archetype of the Mother-Hetaira on the Relational axis and the Amazon-Medial Woman on the Nonrelational axis. These opposing aspects of the archetype will be discussed in detail and a sandplay case will be presented and discussed in light of Wolff’s theoretical model of the female psyche.
Learning Objectives:
- Describe Wolff’s contribution to the development of Jung’s theory of psychological types.
- List the four elements in Wolff’s structure of the feminine psyche and three attributes of each element.
