The Healing of Izdubar

Description

In this section of the text, Jung’s ‘I’ reduced Izdubar to the size of an egg to enable him to enter a house to enable his healing. Following the incantions, Jung’s ‘I’ reopens the egg and Izdubar is reborn in a renewed form. The egg is seen here in the center.

This image is part of a sequence which symbolically depicts the regeneration of Izdubar. The entire sequence depicts the rebirth of God in Jung’s soul, and represents a renewal of life and vitality.

INSCRIPTION TRANSLATION :

“Arthava-veda 4.1.4” which is a charm to promote virility, making reference to Prajapati, the creator God, who is sometimes represented as a bull. The connection is to the healing of Izdubar. The entire sequence depicts the rebirth
of God in Jung’s soul, and represents a renewal of life and vitality.
