This training year we will read Vol. 1 of the Collected Works of Marie-Louise von Franz, Archetypal Symbols in Fairytales: The Profane and Magical Worlds. (Chiron Publications, 2021). In this volume, von Franz amplifies several motifs to highlight “how the storyline in fairytales have preserved the character of the land of soul… The transition from everyday life, that is, the realm of normal consciousness, to the numinous otherworld, is particularly portrayed in the account of the acts that take place in the magical arena.” (From the Introduction). Clinical illustrations from our practice and personal lives, especially related to children, adolescents, and the young parts within, will be encouraged to facilitate integration of theory with practice.
Please contact HKCC Director, Elizabeth Schofield-Bickford at 310-226-7066 or,
esbmft@earthlink.net if you wish to participate in the Child Study Group. You do not have to be working with children or adolescents to join this reading group, nor do you need to attend every meeting. Everyone is welcome.
