Presented by Jeanine Roose, Ph.D.
Many people have a tradition of viewing the movie, It’s a Wonderful Life, during the holiday season. Produced over 70 years ago, the story continues to speak to the question, what does my life mean to myself and others? What if I had never existed? George Bailey, played by James Stewart, is found at the beginning of the movie about to end his life when Clarence, an angel, appears as his Virgil to Dante. This lecture will examine the various archetypal themes that contribute to the powerful message contained in the film.
Course Objectives:
- Identify the archetypal themes of Individuation and the Hero.
- Discuss the search for meaning as it relates to Individuation.
- Describe the Hero’s journey.
